So a couple of weeks ago, I made a post about how these bracelets that everyone wears (like the Livestrong bracelet) was becoming a growing fashion statement, and about how people should be aware of those bracelets and educate others, instead of using it as an article of fashion.
So my sister, who is a junior in high-school, came home last week with her school yearbook. I didn’t get a chance to look at it till tonight. I was flipping through the pages, reminiscing on the good old days, when I was in the same school. Then, I flipped to a page, titled “Fashion”, and what is the first image I see? The Livestrong bracelet!!
How does the staff of a yearbook, which by the way, is a chronicle of high school life, not figure out that these bracelets have actual meaning, and are not a fashion statement? Reading the caption beside the image, makes it worse. I quote, “The fashion seen in Central’s (the name of the high school) halls is as varied and unique as the students themselves. In the year 2004 and 2005 season, Ugg boots, Livestrong bracelets, North Face gear, argyle sweaters and the traditional Illini and Central apparel were very popular.”
I think its funny that they can put the Livestrong bracelets in the same category as Ugg boots, and argyle sweaters.
